A year ago, I was in your shoes.
I was deep in the busy wedding season, feeling stretched thin, and my only focus was trying to stay on top of client work. I was spending no time on marketing and I was completely winging it on social media. In truth, I resented the fact that social media added one more thing to my long list of to-do’s. I was literally just posting to post so that people didn’t think I wasn’t working. And then once I’d start to get bogged down with editing, I’d fall off the social media wagon altogether.
This sound familiar??
- Posting just to post and with no real purpose other than “showing up”.
- Hating that social media was just one more thing to have to keep up with.
- Having no plan whatsoever and feeling stressed about what to post and what to say.
I needed to make a plan.
Honestly, it wasn’t until I pivoted my business to personal brand photography that I finally had an “A-HA!” moment. I suddenly realized the power of social media - a FREE marketing resource at our fingertips that our clients are looking at multiple times a day! Why wasn’t I taking advantage of this?!? I needed to get intentional and purposeful.
Over the next 8 months, I learned how to develop my content strategy, discovered what my audience really wants & needs, and put together a solid plan that not only helped me plan out an entire quarter of content in advance, but also guided me on exactly what to say to attract my ideal clients.
I switched my mindset.
Instead of focusing on quantity, I started focusing on quality. I went from just using social media to show off pretty wedding photos and shout at the masses in hopes of getting noticed by someone. Anyone. And started using it to serve my audience with purpose and heart. I asked them what they needed. I started really listening. And I started focusing on providing value so I could help my audience reach THEIR goals.
AND GUESS WHAT? I booked 3 ideal clients in 1 month!
By investing making personal connections with my audience, I was able to increase my engagement by leaps and bounds. I was finally having real conversations with my ideal clients and they were actually excited to work with me!
If you want to start converting your audience on social media, you need to do the same. Stop only posting wedding photos that you *think* your audience wants to see. And start getting intentional. Sharing the heart behind your business, your mission, your personality, & your unique talents. Give them real value that will solve their problems & help make their lives better.
Your brand photos have to go hand in hand with your content!
Having a library full of personal brand photos is essential to helping you share the heart behind your business, connect with your audience effectively and stay consistent. BUT, if you don’t have a strategy in place to use your gorgeous photos, you’ll still struggle to get quality engagement and see the best return on your investment. Once you develop a strategy for sharing your brand and start engaging with your audience you’ll finally be able to kiss the overwhelm goodbye!
This is why I’m now offering Social Media Coaching for all of my personal brand photography clients.
